Board games
Likes and dislikes board game (food)
Toss a coin and move around the game board, 1 move for heads, 2 for tails. When a Ss lands on a food item the person to the left of them must ask if they like the particular food or drink item in Japanese. The person who tossed the coin must respond. (There is one yellow prompt card per person aimed at giving Ss a guide on how to answer and respond correctly in Japanese.) Extra: Ss must say each Japanese phrase on the yellow prompt card before reaching the goal, if they reach the goal before this they must return to the start. The winner is the first person to reach the goal having said all Japanese phrases. Created by I Foley

Games in class
Battleships - Do you like?
Students practice asking if they like or dislike certain objects. When their sentence has been called out their bombs blow up. The student with the most remaining bombs wins the game. Based on Hai 3 - likes and Dislikes Unit Donated by Sarah

Fruit Basket A Suzuki
Ss sit in a circle with one Ss in the middle. The Ss in the middle says a statement that reviews a target structure. Eg. がすきです。Ss with the same opinion then they must stand and swap chairs. The last person standing becomes the new person in the middle. (To make this more challenging the Ss can’t take a seat that is next to them they must move at least two seats away.)
Likes mingle
Students mingle around the room to find someone who likes the listed activities. When the person finds someone who like the activity they get their signature. The person who gets signatures for all activities first is the winner. Based on Genki I textbook. Created by I Foley.
