Games and activities in class
Divide the class into pairs. Give each pair a set of cards. Get the pair to divide the cards into 3 groups. Place one group of cards near to each person and another group away from both people. There now should be a kore これ groups of cards, sore それand are あれ group. Ss then ask each other questions about the various prices of the objects. For the objects cards placed in front of the person talking they will need to use 'Kore or Kono' (これor この) the object cards placed near their partner they will need to use 'Sore or Sono' (それorその) and the cards not near to either of the people they will need to use 'Are or Ano' (あれorあの). Ie Kore wa ikura desu ka? これはいくらですか。 Sore wa ikura desu ka? それはいくらですか。To make the activity more challenging, put 'like' objects in similar groups ie two or three different types of cameras in the 'Kore' group of cards. The Ss then need to use descriptive words such as ookii おおきい, chiisai ちいさい, aoii あおい, pinku ピンク etc to describe the object in more detail. Ie. Kono aoi kamera wa ikura desu ka? この青いカメラはいくらですか。 Kono pinku no kamera wa ikura desu ka? このピンクのカメラはいくらですか。etc.

Get students to line up in two lines facing each other. Pin a picture of an object on the board. Give the first pair a ball. Get the first student to say これはOBJECTです。Pass the ball to the person opposite them, the same student then says それはOBJECTです。The student holding the ball then says これはOBJECTです。And then passes it to the person to the right of the first person and says それはOBJECTです。Continue passing the ball down the line with students practicing the two sentences. Change the object on the board and keep repeating. (EXTRA: Use real objects rather than a ball.)
